Rule The Road

No band/musician every makes it to careerhood without breaking out of their local scenes. The best way to do this is of course to tour, but to make the tour worth your time you’ll have to do some work before hand. First things first; do some research. Find out which clubs in any city your interested in best cater to your style and do the same for promoters. You might want to look into which bands in that particular city you could claim kinship with and try to set something up with/through them. At the very least, you should be able to get some good advice. You’ll really want optimize your time on the road so don’t stop just because you’ve filled up your calendar. Look into record stores or coffee shops in the area that might be agreeable to your genre and try to set up some daytime acoustics set both as a promotional tool for the club show later that night, and to maximize your exposure in that city.
